In a sign of the times, residents posted on Facebook questioning why council would not support and boost the viability of local storeholders.
The Courier-Sun posed their concerns to general manger Liz Jeremy and received this response: “Council purchases small quantities of seedlings for open space areas including planter boxes based on quality, variety and price.
This has involved purchasing from Coffs Harbour City Council and where not available on occasions from other retail outlets.
“Council will initiate a further discussion with the Chamber of Commerce re the Edible Streetscapes program.”
