Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carl’s Requiem Mass to be celebrated in St. Mary Immaculate, Mother of God Catholic Church, Park Street, Bellingen on Saturday, November 22 commencing at 11am.
The wake will be held at Bellingen Golf Club.
It is not possible to estimate the number of people that will attend the service, interment or wake.
The Bellingen Football Ground, corner of Ford and Part Streets, will be open fro parking and the football club members will volunteers to assist with the parking in the ground.
The service will conclude at 12.30pm and the coffin will be placed on Carl’s NRMA tilt tray truck.
The hearse will head the procession to the cemetery, followed by the tilt tray truck and then two NRMA vehicles under lights. Those attending the service will be invited to walk behind the convoy to follow Carl on his last NRMA call.
The procession route will travel west from the church along Park St then across to Bowra St, turn right into Oak St and then right into Hyde St. the convoy will holt momentarily outside Carl’s Service Station, all vehicles will remain on the roadway. The convoy will then proceed along Hyde St, turn left into Bridge St, cross Lavenders Bridge, north on Hammond St, then move into Lyons St and onwards to the cemetery. NSW Police, SES and RFS will assist with the safe management of the procession.
Buses will be available to transport other attendees to prevent congestion at the cemetery. Community buses with 22 seats will be able to the elderly and incapacitated. Larger buses will be available fro everyone else.
The bus route will be north along Ford St, left into Hyde St, right into Bridge St, then proceeding to Lyon St ending at the cemetery. Parking will be preserved by the RFS at the top of Lyon St for buses to unload.
NSW Police will provide sufficient cars and personnel to block access to west bound traffic at Prince St and Waterfall Way and east bound traffic at the top of town west of the monument. A highway Patrol vehicle will also lead the convoy and where necessary at the rear.
NSW SES will slow traffic down coming from Dorrigo east on Waterfall Way. They will also monitor crowd fatigue during the 2.5km procession walk and offer first aid if necessary.
NSW RFS will be help control and provide clear bus movements to and from the cemetery and afterwards at the Bellingen Golf Club.
On November 14, 84 year-old local icon Carl Foster, passed away peacefully at Bellinger River District Hospital, with family by his side.
In lieu of floral tributes the family would appreciate donations to the Bellingen Lions Club, a collection box will be at the church.
