The day promises everything from the tried and true to a sprinkling of surprises.
Crowds will groove to the incredible stage performances from local iconic bands such as Bunya, Honey Knives, Horns on Helium, Something Good, Golden Zephr, Turnbull Session, Samba Soul, Vox 16, Bonnie Ferguson, Yhan Leal, Luke Wilton and DJ Biz, while kids can splash about in specially created water and land play-zones.
The festival will include practical information and techniques on effective river health and ways individuals can implement effective water-wise methods both on a personal and commercial level.
So come along, be entertained, learn a bit more about our river, catch up with friends and celebrate this community. Entry is $5 for adults and children under 15 will be admitted free. All donations and entry fees are vital to cover costs in hosting this community day.
Volunteers are urgently required. Organisers would love help in creating artistic projects. Volunteering just an hour or two reaffirms the adage ‘many hands make light work’. Register your interest online or come down to the event HQ – old Telstra building, Church St, (behind ambulance station).
The Bellingen River Festival began in 2011 under the auspices of Transition Bellingen to celebrate the beauty of the river and to educate the community about the need to maintain the health of the waterway.
Public notice: Speed reduction on Lavenders Bridge – slow down and be aware of increased pedestrian movement while the event is in progress.
Parking is available at the Bellingen Showgrounds for northside residents while for southsiders look to Ford St, Park St and behind the Memorial Hall.
Strictly no parking in the council carpark. Disability parking will be available at the riverside/jetty car parking area below the council chambers. Supported amenities only at the northside park.
