The BUDs will be endeavouring to keep their undefeated run intact and return a winning culture to the Graveyard after a lean 2014. Teams from as far away as Brisbane, Moree, Grafton, Port Macquarie and everywhere in between have expressed interest in the challenge, knowing if they want to be the best they must beat the best!
A great day’s rugby is assured and the coveted Pink Boot Trophy goes on the line in the local derby between the BUDs and the Coffs Gropers.
All players, past and present are urged to attend. Some are yet to kick a ball in anger this season due to various interruptions, but your presence is needed to make the day a success. Local legends Trevor ‘Crazyhorse’ Sinclair, Paul ‘zip zip’ Carter and Gary ‘do you want the Tele or the Herald’ Howe will help form a formidable nucleus if all attend.
Combined with the Urunga Greats - Grant ‘the Moree Bull’ Squires, Ian ‘fastest man over 60’ Smith, Gary ‘Prince’ Matthews, Graham ‘OVH’ Martin and Jack ‘the farmer’ Gordon the winning run appears assured. New players are always welcome and registration and insurance can be paid on the day. Helpers are also needed, and can help man the barbecue and refreshments with past stars Declan ‘Coonamble kid’ Horan and Waz ‘the fox’ Yule.
We need as many players and helpers as possible in attendance, so why not get in some last minute training at the Urunga Recreational ground from 6pm on Wednesday nights. If you can’t attend could you please email Ian Smith at iansmith4@hotmail.com with your intentions to play, help or otherwise.
So come on all you old boys, go to the medical cupboard, pull out an old tube of dencorub, have a sniff and come and have a go. If you only play in one tournament this season – this is the one. Life is too short for ifs and buts - just do it! The older we get the better we were! Golden Oldies Rugby based on the principles of fun, friendship and fraternity.
