Little champions

April 8 2014 - 1:35pm

On Saturday the Dorrigo Junior Rugby League U7s made their way to Bowraville to play their very first game of rugby league. The boys were excited to finally get out on the paddock and use the skills that their coach Donald ‘The Duck’ Glyde and assistant Peter ‘Peg Leg Pete’ Casey had taught them. From the outset it seemed that the main tactic that the Bellingen side knew was stacks on. When every tackle was made it seemed everybody made their way over to jump on top. Lots of tries were scored with Tex Casey, Jack Apanui bagging a couple. Beau Glyde was lucky not to be sent off after getting over excited and kicking the opposition after they were already tackled. Chad Welsh and River Curran showed their speed with blistering runs up the sideline. Hullie Anderson and Deegan Young were always there in both attack and defence showing plenty of talent and enthusiasm. All the boys worked well as team and had heaps fun. If you have a child that would like to join them or join in with the U10s or U13s come down to training at Connell Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm.
