The girls had five new team members mixed with four members from last year all looking forward to the challenge.
They started the competition strongly with a 3-2 win over Maclean High School in what was a very good game.
Unfortunately, following this game the girls found it harder to find the net and despite some good displays went down 2-3 to Clontaf HS, 0-2 to Assissi College (the eventual winners), 0-2 to Southern Cross Catholic College and 0-3 to Mt Alvernia High School.
All the games were close and at this level the difference between scoring and just missing is crutial.
Many of the girls will still be eligible for this age group next year so will learn a lot from this experience.
This was the last Futsal team to attend the Australian Championships.
Four teams – the 19 years boys and girls, the 15 years boys and the 14 years girls missed out on the semi-finals, with the 16 years girls falling just short of being Australian Champions finishing runners up in their age division.
These teams could not have enjoyed this opportunity without a lot of help.
The teams send a big thank you goes to all the parent helpers, community transport, for use of their vehicles, and especially Bellingen Diggers Swimming Club for their generous support of these teams.
