26 Jan, 2010 09:23 AM
Local swimmers Justin Alford (13) and Talissa Alford (10) traveled to Armidale last weekend to compete at the NSW Country Regional Meet. There were 236 athletes participating from 37 different clubs in our region. Justin and Talissa represented Bellingen Swimming Club and came home with some fantastic results. Justin came home with a bronze medal for the 50m backstroke and finished 4th in the 100m backstroke and a personal best time (PB) time, 5th in 200m Individual Medley, 50m breaststroke, 100m butterfly PB, 100 breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 6th 50 butterfly and 7th 100m freestyle PB.

Talissa came home with a total of seven gold medals, two silver and a fourth placing out of ten events entered. Results are as follows; 1st 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle PB, 100m butterfly PB, 50m backstroke PB, 2nd 100m breaststroke PB, 50m freestyle PB and 4th 50m breaststroke PB.

As you can see these two athletes did extremely well and congratulations to both of them. I would like to wish our swimmers the best of luck this weekend at Kempsey for the last of the season block carnivals. All results next week.
