The inaugural Bellingen Weekend Classic was held at the Bellingen golf course over the weekend, culminating in a mixed four-ball event on Sunday. This followed on from a Ladies competition on Friday and a similar event for the Men on Saturday. With substantial sponsorship from Affirmations, Bridgestone, Yellow Tail Wines and Keno, the Classic attracted players from as far as Quirindi, Nelson Bay and Gloucester as well as good contingent of local players. The event was hailed as a great success by all who participated. Thanks must go to all the greens staff and volunteers who worked so hard to get the course back in shape after the heavy rain earlier in the week which put the event in doubt.

Results from the Ladies and Men’s individual competitions are reported elsewhere in this paper. The results from Sunday’s four-ball competition are as follows:

Winners: Pattie Hoschke and Richard Martin (49 points)

Runners-up: Rosie Falloon and Tony Falloon (47 points)

2nd runners-up: Kay Rose and Alf Rose (46 points)

The Keno prizes of $500 each for the best male and female players over the weekend were won by Wayne Jeffery with 74 points and Colleen Monkton on 72 points. Congratulations to all the winners.

It is hoped to make The Bellingen Weekend Classic an annual event with a mixture of golfing and social activities over the three days.
