Sooty the fisherdog

09 Mar, 2010 07:54 AM
Sooty caught these two, 1.5kg tuna on Monday (March 1) at the Urunga foreshore. They were trapped behind the sea wall in about 50cm of water. She chased them around for about 45 minutes in a large area until finally she grabbed one of them and threw it up onto the sand. They were incredibly fast and shone bright electric blue, leaving a huge wake behind them as they swam. After checking the flapping fish out she pursued another until it was so tried it gave up. She grabbed it and dumped next to the other one!! She often chases fish in the shallows but until now has never caught one. Her owner, Jasmine Sweeney says will be going back later this week for some flathead! Thankyou to the kind young man who gutted them for us.
