Urunga Anglers Club finally got to hold their Deep Sea Competition for October, conditions were choppy but fishable with 7 boats going to sea and most caught a good feed of fish and we even had the whales putting on a show for us , Richard and I had a dolphin racing the boat and it jumped out of the water a few feet from the boat.
It was also interesting watching a rain cloud out to sea wondering if it was going to come our way and wash some of the salt spray of us and the boat, didn’t happen!
Rob McLauchlan and Robert Watt had snapper, teraglin to 1.44kg, reef and sand flathead and sergeant baker.
Shane Young and Rob Bofinger had snapper , sand flathead and sergeant baker.
Tom and Michael Sharkey had snapper, reef & sand flathead & pearl perch.
Roger Adams and Steve Waugh caught snapper , sand flathead and sergeant baker .
Steve had a cracker of a snapper of 7.09kg which gave him the heaviest snapper on the day , well done ! Roger had a good size Sand flathead of 1.41kg also.
Gary Paulsen and Richard McCabe had a good tub of snapper , sand flathead to 1.26kg, pearl perch 1.85kg and sergeant baker . Richard had a nice snapper of 5,54kg.
Jamie Smith and Cameron Gowing had snapper, morwong, pearl perch , red rock cod & Sampson fish. Cameron got the good size sambo which went 7.78kg and Jamie’s Red rock cod went 1.14kg.
Biggest snapper prize went to Steve Waugh as mentioned earlier with a fish of 7.09kg.
The Two Spins of the wheel went to Gary Paulsen with his pearl perch of 1.85kg and Jamie Smith with his Red Rock cod of 1.140kg.
Participants Draw kindly sponsored by Coffs Bait and Tackle was won by Jamie Smith.
NOTE ;- Beach, Rock and Estuary Comp this weekend the 24th & 25th October.
ALSO; - a felt hat was found floating in the river if you have lost this hat ring Noela McCabe with description on 66556418.
Their were some fish caught in the river through the week , Roger McCabe caught some school jewfish and bream.
Danny Van Haren caught a few good size bream and Robert Dunn also caught bream.
