Showcasing our public schools

03 Jun, 2008 09:40 AM
Eleven local schools officially launched the Bellinger Dorrigo Learning Community at highly successful event titled ‘Public Educa-tion on Show’ held at Bellingen High School on Tuesday evening. The schools taking part were Bellingen High, Bellingen Public, Dorrigo High, Dorrigo Public, Dundurrabin Public, Hernani Public, Raleigh Public, Repton Public, Orama Public, Urunga Public and the Cascade Environmental Centre. The concert was well supported. An audience of approximately 400 people including local and state government representatives, local community groups, parents, DET senior executive staff and community members were treated to an outstanding showcase of talent which included a performance from every school. The highlight of the evening was the combined choir at the end of the show in which all 200 students who participated earlier joined together to sing a beautifully arranged version of “I am Australian”. They brought the house down! The Bellinger Dorrigo Learning Community theme was “Public Schools Working Together” and the launch was a clear indication of the benefits of schools working as a team. The principals of the schools would like to thank staff, students, parents and community for their outstanding efforts and contributions to this showcase event.
